Hardwood Flooring & Wall Paneling Made in the USA Sustainable Lumber Company is proudly located in pristine Montana and consists of eleven families collectively working together handcraft exclusive lines of hardwood flooring and wall paneling made in the USA. Each family has a specific custom trade that has been taught and handed down for generations. Expert craftsmanship, family values, traditional woodworking skills, unsurpassed work ethic, and high morals are displayed to the highest standards within our company. Our internal strive for excellence and desire to produce a high-quality product is evident in every board. Attention to detail, consistent quality control, and unparalleled customer service is our company’s #1 goal.
100% of our Douglas Fir and Beetle Killed Pine is harvested locally in Montana and strictly comes from salvaged and SFI-certified wood (Sustainable Forest Initiative). Currently, our Douglas Fir logs are being harvested from the Rice Ridge mega-fire in the Lolo National Forest near Seeley Lake Montana. This mega-fire burned over 160,000 acres in 2017. Currently, our blue pine Beetle Kill wood is being harvested in the Big Hole Valley which was decimated by the Mountain Pine Beetle.
We know every board, personally. Artisan-style craftsmanship goes into every handcrafted sustainable wood flooring and tongue & groove wall panelling that we produce. Every board is personally handled up to 12 times allowing the opportunity to check quality and detail at every step. Once kiln-dried to 6% moisture content, rough blanks are individually selected for grade, character, and color. Only the highest quality wood is used for our artisan American-made hardwood flooring, walls, and other products, all the rest is donated to nonprofit organizations. Our pre-finished flooring and wall paneling are hand-rubbed and hand-sanded producing an artisan-style appearance. Hand rubbing ensures the highest quality finish which cannot be duplicated by a machine.
We have no secrets and are a very transparent company. We are not optimized like most of our competitors, nor do we want to be. We believe in artisan craftsmanship which cannot be duplicated by a machine. We are not and will never be a huge hardwood flooring and paneling company, but we are made in the USA, and with that, we believe in people and craftsmanship which is very obvious if you visit us. We physically check quality and craftsmanship at every step throughout our process. We know every board of our handmade wood floors and walls personally.
