What makes Montana Fir so special?

Posted: July 13, 2020

What makes Montana Fir flooring so special? Maybe, because it’s grown in the wild landscape with organic soil, clean air, and pristine Mountain water.

Due to Montana’s long and harsh winter, the growing season is significantly shorter than in coastal regions. A shorter growing season produces tighter grain and more growth rings per inch, resulting in a more stable and dense floor. Montana Fir averages 15 growth rings per inch, compared to 2nd growth coastal fir which typically averages 3-4 growth rings per inch.

Our Montana Douglas Fir wood floors are exclusively produced from salvaged timber and SFI-Certified wood. We’re currently sourcing logs from the Rice Ridge fire which destroyed over 160,000 acres in 2017.

Staying true to our artisan roots, our Montana Fir floors are hand-crafted and finished with hand-rubbed penetrating oils.

If you’re in the market for hardwood floors, it’s time to take a closer look at Douglas Fir Flooring.
